Biography of Indian cricket team captain- Virat Kohli


Virat Kohli was born on 5th November 1988 in Delhi, India. His father Prem Kohli is the criminal lawyer and mother Saroj Kohli is the housewife. He has one elder sister, Bhavna and elder brother, Vikash.

He was enrolled in West Delhi Cricket Academy at the age of 9. He was trained by Rajkumar Sharma in the academy. He also played matches at Sumit Dogra academy.

He started his career by playing in Delhi-under 15 team in 2002 and also became the leading run getter player in 2002-2003 Polly Umrigar trophy tournament. He was made captain of the team 2002-2003 Polly Umrigar trophy.

Then he was selected for 2003-04 Vijay Merchant trophy and lifted the trophy for team in 2004-05.

He was finally selected for India’s under-19 team for England tour in 2006 and later that year he performed remarkably against Pakistan later that year.

In 2006 his father died and all the responsibilities of his family came onto his shoulder after which he started taking games seriously. In 2008 he led his team to victory in ICC under-19 cricket worldcup. Looking his comendable performance he was selected for IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He was selected for the Indian ODI team for Sri Lanka tour in 2008. He received his first man of the match against West Indies in group match during 2009 ICC Champions trophy. In 2011 he was able to make his place in the 2011 World cup.

He made his Test debut at Kingston in the first match of the Test series. He was appointed as Vice- Captain for the 2012 Asia cup. In 2014 he was appointed as the captain for Test team.

And in 2017 he became captain as M.S Dhoni resigned from the post.

Virat Kohli is in relationship with Anushka Sharma in present.
