29 Indian cities and towns including Delhi fall under seismic zones. Out of these 29 towns and cities majority places are in Himalayas.
Delhi, Srinagar, Kohima, Puducherry, Guwahati, Gangtok, Shimla, Dehradun, Patna, Imphal, Chandigarh falls under zone IV and V. Zone V includes the entire northeastern region, parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarkhand, the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, parts of north Bihar and the Andaman and Nicobar.
Zone V is considered most active while Zone II least. Whereas Zone IV and V fall under “severe” to “very severe” categories respectively.
