At July 18, 2012 after the death of Rajesh Khanna his beloved house passed to his daughters Twinkle and Rinke. For a brief period, Khanna’s live-in partner, Anita Advani also claimed to own a share of the property.
Later, Twinkle and Rinke decided to sell the bungalow, on August 29, 2014, bungalow being purchased by Shetty, founder and CMD of logistics firm, about Rs 90 crore. The new owner has decided to demolish the 50-year-old structure and make a new bungalow where he will stay with his family members, sources said. The new structure is going to be a four-storey building and the work on this is likely to start soon, sources added.
The familiar sight of the sea-facing Carter Road’s most famous landmarks will soon disappear forever. This bungalow, which has an area of about 603 square metres was used by Rajesh Khanna, who in turn had bought it from actor Rajendra Kumar for Rs 3.5 lakhs in 1970. The bungalow had proved to be lucky for Kaka who gave a string of 16 hit films in that period.
