Snooty is the world’s oldest manatee. Born in 1948, snooty is now 68 years old and lives at South Florida Museum in Bradenton, Florida. He was first brought in 1949 in the museum when he was 11 months old.
Normally, the age of manatee is around 50 to 60 years. Snooty is known for his age as well as his contribution to the research of gulf coast manatees in manatee county community.
A hydrophone is placed in Snooty’s tank which picked up high pitched squeaks which shows that manatees are more smarter than they are originally believed to be.
This discovery helped mankind to better understand thousands of manatees living in Florida’s gulf coast.
